Currently I am in my revision week in school; the semester has almost come to an end and so have my studies. I only have one semester left after this one Cannot wait. Being off campus is almost the lovliest thing ever - I´ve been pretty much sick in this house since I moved in AND there are some unforeseen bills coming in that my flatmates swore would only come every 3 months, and not every month. So I'm having to pay like 150 pounds for gas and electricity every months months instead of 30 pounds and other things like that. And then the rent increased so I'm pretty much not happy about money these days; but who is !!
I'm going to home sweet home after exactly 10 days; I get my hepatitis B shot after exactly 14 days and Christmas will be here after exactly 16 days and I haven't done ANY christmas shopping yet<img src="/img/smilies/graymad.gif" alt=">:-(" class="middle" border="0">
Anyway, have a good one and take care of yourselves..greetings.

The school has started but I´m still not ready to study, I'll get started when I really have to The biggest news is that I have moved off campus and now I am living in Binfield village I'm soooooo happy. I was literally drying up at the college and wasn't really fitting in. So many people have finished that I used to hung out with, it's really sad and I really felt that it was time to move on. I moved in last Wednesday and things have been wonderful since. I live with these two Hungarian sisters, Mirella and Dalia, and they are such nice people that I felt at home at once.
There isn't much new of me. I went down to Cornwall with the college this weekend. This is the 3rd time I go with the college and it's always good. I got to know a lot of people in a different way than before and got to make new Serbian and Danish friends among Russian and other friends.
I do have problems though finding classes that fit with my schedule but I'll try to sort that out today. To b honest I'm not too upset about that because it means I get a bit more time off
I started working in the library yesterday and perhaps 5 people came in those 4 and a half hours that I stayed. I cannot blame them really, but that meant there was NOTHING to do. Well, I guess in this very hot weather that's good. I am literally melting down - which means I have to keep my window open at all times and then the grasshoppers and spiders and some green slimy things grab the good opportunity to crawl in the window. So I guess I do have some roommates after all<img src="/img/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif" alt=":>>" class="middle" border="0">
I am a mentor this year and I am telling you guys, there are only American girls under 19 in my corridor. I feel like a great grandma around them. It's the first time most of them are going away from home, and they are scared to their death but soon they'll start flipping out with all that freedom so I should lay off the complaints till then
Anyway, I have library duties in few minutes. I'll catch you guys later.

Too bad I ain't gonna be here then There were tears and there were hugs last night at my working place but they'll get me again this Christmas for work so their gonna be ok Plus they've got my chocolate cake there
I went to see this brilliant movie with my younger (but taller) sibblings. We went to see the Dukes of Hazzard - it's a brilliant movie, you should definately all see it. Jessica Simpson is this mega babe in it and pulls it off brilliantly, I've seen the shows The Newlydweds and did not like her so much from that - but she's awesome in this. And plus, one of the main actors Sean William Scott, is really cute. So it made the film a lot more interesting

It's ridiculous how fast the summer has gone. And today is one of the first "real" summerdays. The last time we got a day this good here I got so sunburnt that I still have the T-shirt mark after it. So I better go outside now and get even more sunburnt since I'm only working from 4 to 9 today. I'm becoming whiter than all white so I figured that it would be a good thing adding some red to it
I went to the eye doctor today (I know there is a more fancy word over the eye doctor but I don't remember it by) and my eye sight has officially become worse and I have to wear glasses most of the day. This is horrible news - my old glasses are distgustingly ugly and outdated so I probably have to buy some new ones. I think that I'll check the prices in England first because I have to pay 250 pounds or more for them here. It's a rip off!! So all of you that are thinking about coming to Iceland - have your pockets full of money and some very warm sweaters even though you come in the summer time.
I've been driving my grandma's car almost all summer since she cannot drive because of her stroke. I took it for an annual check up yesterday and I found out that I have been driving a traffic hazard all summer that is dangerous to us all. The stearing ends in the wheel are damaged so it could have stop working any second and the front breaks are damaged as well. As all concerned grandma's mine called immidiately for an appointment but there is no opening until next Wednesday. Let's hope I can survive till then because I stopped at a gas station yesterday to change the light bulps but they somehow managed to overpower the system (or something) so the light bulps don't work anymore. Let's hope it will still be light when I come home from work this evening and that I can stop at appropriate times and that the wheel works so I can manage the car Well, I'll just be ready to jump out if anything happens
Well, I bid you farewell so I can go outside and get a little colour in my face even though it's not a brown one
Adios.

The first weekend in August is always a travelling/drinking/fun activities-kind-of-weekend. There is always a lot going on - bands are performing downtown and there is a cirkus and all kind of things. Unfortunately I was working that weekend but I got to go downtown a little bit and have a bit of fun Well, I was with the kids from work but it was fun anyhow. Nobody has asked me how old I am so I can still pretend that I am 22. I liked being 22 but yet again I get more pay being 23 so I don't mind too much Talking about work...I was supposed to get yesterday off but I had to work and got myself into even more work by promising to take 5 other shifts. That's what happens when there is a problem of saying NO. I'll definately work on this problem in the future I did say no about today though, I was asked to work extra today but I said no. So perhaps I have gotten a tiny step towards working on this problem
Great news!!!! I don't live in a suitcase anymore and that's the great news of the day. My sister (Gyða) and I have been sharing a room since we came here in the spring. But the problems has been that there is only one bed and no closet. So I have had to shove my clothes into my brothers room and leave some of it on chairs and in suitcases. But finally a large closet arrived and is up now so we don't live in a pig-stine like we used to Finally Well, there is still only one bed and there doesn't seem to be a solution to that this summer.
Not so great news!!!! I haven't have had the chance to go on any camping trips this summer and it doesn't look like I am going to So when I come back to Newbold I just have to camp out on the football field or go to Wales or Scotland and have a proper camping trip. It just isn't summer without camping.
Good news!!!! There is only a month or so till school starts again and I am starting to look forward to it. So, I'll see you Newbold people soon

*Icelanders' belief that they are a nation of strong, beautiful and intelligent people (of course)
*Next to their cars and electronic gadgetry, their credit rating is the closest thing to the Icelanders' heart. So true
*The essence of Icelandic conversation is the insult. Icelanders are born with a talent for it and use it with ease from an early age. Because of their farming and fishing ancestry the most telling jibes involve sheep and fish. It is a very serious matter to refer to someone as a sheep or a codhead. Have I ever done this!!!!!
*Being new to the concept of town-dwelling, the Icelanders still find its rules difficult. If you have been used to riding into the nearest village and hitching your horse to a rail outside the shop you want to visit, you expect to do the same with your car. This is so very true
*Iceland has Europe’s largest glacier - Vatnajökul - 3,300 square miles
*Hope you have learnt some more about Iceland and Icelanders

...Theodóra's (my youngest sister) boyfriend, Paul, is coming from America for a visit on Thursday. He did all the technical effects in the movie "The day after tomorrow". So we know someone famous
This is a direct translation from Icelandic over a greeting that we often use. Sounds kind of ridiculous in English Anyway, I hereby announce for some volunteers to work for me tomorrow and Saturday since I cannot seem to get anyone from my work to do it. I made the effort to invite and convince Robert Sand that he and his family could stay at my house. The problem is though, that I thought that they were going to take the circle the other way. They just came to Iceland today and when you go around Iceland you go in circle. And I thought that they were going south first...but of course they wanted to see me first which is perfectly understandable Guess they have to live with strangers for a while since I won't be home
I hope ya all have had a great summer so far and don't forget my birthday 14th July NO....I am not much for birthdays so you are all allowed to forget it.
I went to see the civilisation (Reykjavík) over the weekend and came home yesterday. Spent way too much money and Theodóra (my youngest sister) got to diy my hair blonde. She works for Tony&Guy and is still learning, and I have to say that it didn't come out too bad. Am a different person with short hair and really blond-redish hair now

Both of my grandma's went to the hospital. My mother's mom got an infection in her knee. She just got a fake knee few weeks ago and the doctors thought for a while that they had to take the knee out but fortunately it got to stay in. My father's mom had a stroke on Saturday, a vain bursted in her brain and caused damage in her left brain and therefore a loss of power on her right side. She cannot use the right hand at all and it looks like she is going to be in the hospital at least for the summer if not longer. I've got to tell you, it's one of the few times I've got really scared. She called us at home and I literally panicked. But fortunately she is doing quite well (compared to the situation) and a big plus is that she did not loose her speech. These are the big news from my life.
Other are, that my little brother came from Denmark. He had learnt maybe two words in Danish after almost 2 weeks but came with a full bag of candy from the airport. Really happy
My other brother, Omar, is working on a farm 2 minutes away. Some of the cows really dislike him and he frequently comes home with bruises. It's quite hilarious actually
And then my summer vacation. Well, I often work so many days in a rough that I have 5 days off from Saturday till Wednesday. This calls for a proper injection of civilisation and I am heading south towards the capital of Iceland. There I will see at least a few thousand people and meet all my friends and family
Enjoy your day

There was a family reunion in Hrísey and it was brilliant. Everybody brought their smiles and their food and their stories and it went smoothly all along. Both of my sisters came from San Fransisco, Gyða from school and Theodóra after having visited her boyfriend. Both have officially become Americanized, which in itself, is not such a bad thing, as long as they keep a glimpse of their own nationality within themselves
I have become a very cool person at work among a few girls. They have continuously tried to hook me up with their older brothers and are always telling me "secrets" which sometimes are quite sweet. I love that I can become a "model" for someone
I already miss England and I long to go back. I might stay in the area after I finish my BS program and probably go to London or Glasgow. There are big dreams ahead of me and I long to see the great wall of China, Moscow, Praque, Australia and South Korea. It's not a question of "if" I see these things, it's rather a question of "when". Can't wait to see them; and as my grandfather always used to say: life is a piano and it all depends on how you play it!

I hereby thank thee Danish nation for getting involved with World War II and making it soooooo easy for us to gain (some people say cheat) our indepence. Which reminds me that I had the privilege to shake hands with our ex-president (that was the first democratically voted female president in the world) when she came to my grandfather's funeral. Yes...this country is certainly a small one. And this leads me into another story; my sister saw the priminister of Iceland the other day, Halldór Ásgrímsson, walking around in San Fransisco without any escorts or body guards. We do not pose any threat as a nation so why spend some extra money into unessecary things like body guards!! But I've got to say that some people were shocked, but they were mainly foreigners.
Night frosts have finally stopped but it looks like it has moved into the day zone because it is freezing here. So you guys that are thinking about coming to Iceland, wait a few days!!
No news remain of me other than that my thread is very short these days. This is an Icelandic saying and means that my temper goes up very quickly and I am easily irritated. You would know the reason for these if you would see my arms, I am all bruised with scars all around. Guess that's what work does to you
anyway, have a good weekend you guys!

This is in the old garage and the carpet is as old as the house, from the 1920s. BUT...there is one bonus, the same brother has now gone to Denmark to learn Danish so I can temporarily regain my old room This is the "hottest" story of the hour
Anyway, I started my lovely job Monday last week and have been working none stop since then. I do work every other weekend since these kids don't stop being mental over the weekends; I guess it isn't the lovely 8 to 5 job that some people have. But these kids are worth the effort, so I don't mind. There is only one kid there that I am a bit intmidated by. Hmmm...he's only 12 but very much a psycho; I do better with the autistics; so wish me good luck over the weekend.
OOooohh..one news that I have to share. The early family re-union is coming up and takes place next weekend of the 17th June. My parents were in charge of it this year, and guess what!! They chose the most remote island there is to be found around Iceland and decided to have it there. All my posh relatives from Reykjavík are coming and they cannot take their cars out to the island. This is of course a big tragedy for them as they have to walk through the mud and smell the cows This is going to be so sweet
Anyway, I have the whole day off so I am going to wonder around town and find friends of mine. After all, Akureyri is small enough to bump into friends.
